My name is Tracey Schmitz and I absolutely love ART. Kid art is my favorite, as children learn art skills by being physically and mentally involved in the process. As children learn through art, it is often the process over the finished product that assists in learning new skills and methods.
I have been an art teacher for many, many, many years. I completed both my Bachelor's in Education and Master's in Education with early childhood from Minot State University. I did not go far for my studies as I was born, raised and still live in the Minot area. Besides art, I have taught preschool, kindergarten, and education classes through Minot State.
Being a Catholic and teaching in a Catholic school lends itself beautifully to teaching religion, the church year, feasts, saints, and the Holy Trinity through art. Classical art is easily brought to an age-appropriate level for all artists. Using different media allows the students to be expressive and engage in work while giving their best effort, staying involved and on task, and practicing virtues in the classroom.
Blessings to all Bishop Ryan Families!
