I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Shaun Meharry and I am pleased to be your child’s Mathematics teacher. I teach Geometry, Prealgebra, Precalculus, and Trigonometry at Bishop Ryan. I have been a teacher in some capacity since 1998 and at Bishop Ryan Catholic School (BRCS) since 2017. My teaching experience has largely been in private Christian schools, though I have also taught in large public schools as well. It goes without saying each year has had its very memorable experiences that will be treasured for years to come.
BRCS is a great school with dynamic leadership. I will tell you that it is a school I am proud to be a part of. I am fascinated by the caliber of students that it has filling its classrooms and I am impressed by the experience of my colleagues. Most of all, I am proud of the spiritual emphasis that has changed the kids lives. It is not every school that can say it graduates students who positively impact the community around them and are prepared to make a difference in this world in preparation for the next.
My background in education started at Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska where I gained the majority of my undergraduate training towards a Bachelor’s of Science in mathematics education. In the summers following the completion of my degree, I continued my education and expanded my teaching experience by taking courses in chemistry, physics and computer science. Most recently, I have completed a graduate degree, Master of Education in curriculum and instruction, from Walla Walla University. As a result, I carry multiple state teaching certificates as well as a denominational teaching credential. Life is a learning process and one must always strive to learn continually. To stop learning is to give the mind a death sentence and to forfeit one of the greatest blessings one has to navigate this life’s journey.
I look forward to continuing to be your child’s teacher as we embark on our education experience. Please feel free to contact me through my school email account as the need arises.
