I grew up in Rolla, North Dakota, but following graduation, I moved to Minot to attend college at Minot State University. I graduated from MSU with degrees in Elementary and Physical Education. I was hired at Bishop Ryan Catholic School following graduation and have been teaching here ever since. This is my seventh year of teaching; the first two years were spent in first grade and the rest have been in third. In May 2019, I graduated from the University of Mary with a Master of Education in Elementary Administration.
My experience at Bishop Ryan has definitely been a life-changing one, not only professionally, but personally as well. Before Bishop Ryan, I was a Catholic who had fallen away from my faith, or truthfully, had never experienced the beauty of the Catholic faith. However, the things I began to discover within the faith, such as adoration, daily Mass, and just learning the faith through my students, opened my eyes to a whole new reality. Most importantly, these experiences opened my eyes to the love of Jesus.
In addition to learning to see and love myself through Christ’s eyes, I have also learned a whole new curriculum model. Classical education was introduced to us, as a faculty, a few years ago and we have been utilizing it in our classrooms for a couple years now. At first, I was a bit reluctant to the idea of such a curriculum, but after learning more about it and visiting a classical school, I was sold. Some of the subjects we focus on are Latin, grammar, spelling, literature (including one of my favorites, Charlotte’s Web), poetry, and math.
I am looking forward to continuing this wonderful school journey with you and your child!
