Hello! My name is Carson Black and this my second year of teaching at Bishop Ryan Catholic School. Prior to officially making my home here at BRCS, I earned Bachelor’s degrees in Early Childhood and Elementary Education from the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND. UMary then assigned me to student teach at Bishop Ryan, and it was love at first sight! After completing my student teaching, I worked at BRCS as an aide, long term substitute, and finally received my own classroom in the 2018-2019 school year. I am so grateful to have spent all of my teaching career thus far in the halls of our school.
I was born and raised in Minot and my mother is a Bishop Ryan alumni. My husband, Casey, and I have lived here our whole lives and are happily raising our one-year-old daughter, Anna, here in Minot. In our free time, we love being outside with our dogs, going to the lake, and spending time at home watching our daughter grow. We are members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
In 4th grade, I get to teach a variety of subjects, but a special thing about 4th grade is the opportunity to teach North Dakota Studies, which is my own most vivid memory of elementary school. I love it! I also love teaching Latin and Literature.
My favorite part of my job is sharing my faith with my students, and it is such a gift to watch their faith-lives shine through in their school work. It is so rewarding for me to experience your children’s efforts to be saints and see their virtue in action every day.
Thank you for the privilege of teaching your children. I am so grateful for your support and promise to put the utmost care toward your child’s success!
