My name is Carmela Seright and I am the middle school Religion teacher at Bishop Ryan Catholic School. I started teaching here, part-time, five years ago, and I've taught full-time the past three years. It has brought me great joy teaching what I love and being able to work with such incredible students!
Before coming to Bishop Ryan, I was the Director of Religious Education as well as the CCD and wedding coordinator for our home parish at St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church. I am certified through the University of Notre Dame in Theology of the Body, which is my greatest passion. I am a certified SRAS, and I'm currently in Graduate School for Theology at the St. Augustine Institute in Colorado, where I will then pursue my Masters Degree.
My classes focus on sixth, seventh, eighth and ninth graders. Sixth grade starts out with a Bible study regarding Salvation History as well as diving deep into personal prayer life using Lectio Divina. Seventh graders then study the life of grace set up by Jesus Christ for His Church and have a nine week course at the end of the year in Theology of the Body, an identity and evangelization program. Eighth grade centers on our life in the Church, and that through Sacred Tradition, Sacred Scripture and the Magisterium, all God intends for us is good. I teach a more advanced Theology of the Body course to ninth graders during the first nine weeks of school.
My husband, Derek, and I live east of Granville on our cattle ranch with our three beautiful children, John (5 yrs), Maria (3 yrs) and David (19 months). John loves being a little Lion and Maria couldn’t be more excited to get to wear purple in the halls with her big brother!
I am looking forward to a beautiful school year, getting to know one another and to learn and grow in the Spirit of Jesus Christ! Know of my prayers for all of my students and you, their families.
