As part of the program for Monday’s Staff Development Day, (
Quick reminder: There is no school for Bishop Ryan students on September 18th!) BRCS faculty will be taking part in a presentation about classical education with Martin Cothran, editor of
Classical Teacher magazine.
Meet Martin Cothran: Along with his role as director of the Classical Latin School Association, Martin Cothran has also authored several course books for private and home school environments, including the
Traditional Logic,
Material Logic, and
Classical Rhetoric programs from Memoria Press, as well as

He holds a B.A. in philosophy and economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an M.A. in Christian Apologetics from the Simon Greenleaf School (now part of Trinity University). He is widely-quoted on educational issues and other issues of public importance, and is a frequent guest on Kentucky Educational Television's "Kentucky Tonight," a weekly public affairs program. His articles on current events have appeared in numerous newspapers, including the Louisville Courier-Journal and the Lexington Herald-Leader.
You're Invited: Mr. Cothran will be offering a short presentation on classical education for parents, followed by time for questions, beginning at 6:00pm on Monday evening in the BR Cafeteria. Free childcare will be provided, starting at 5:45pm.
