Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament is a time when Catholics (or anyone with a prayerful heart) worship the true God in the person of Jesus Christ Who is really, truly present in the eucharistic host. Catholics usually make what is known as a holy hour to honor Jesus' heartfelt request to His closest disciples during His lonely agony in the garden, "Could you not spend one hour with me?"
This is a time to simply be in the presence of Jesus. Some people will use the time to reflect on sins or sufferings and ask for Jesus' mercy. Great healing is available to those who come to adoration. Others will spend the time in gratitude, recalling each person or thing in life they are thankful for and thanking Jesus for each one. Still others will read from Sacred Scripture and contemplate its meaning in their life or pray a holy rosary to invite Mary's guidance to the words of her Son.
